Try Out Thursdays: Bob's Red Mill #GlutenFree Flour Review & Giveaway - BONUS Recipe

By now, you are probably sick and tired of hearing me moan and groan about being allergic to wheat.  It hasn't been too bad except lately, I have been wanting a cookie or a brownie or a blondie or some rick wheat treat.  So when Bob's Red Mill said they would send me a bag of their Gluten Free 1-1 Flour to try, I jumped at the chance to make my sister's famous blondies!

My old neighborhood has a block party every year for Memorial Day and this year, I decided I was going to make my sister's blondies.  It is a super easy and rich recipe and I figured it would put the flour to the test.

It is a super quick recipe because you don't have to wait for the butter to melt.  Just throw 1/2 cup of butter in a saucepan and let it melt.  Then add in 2 cups of brown sugar and get the whole mixture wet.

Then mix your vanilla with two eggs.  Mix up your dry ingredients.  Add the eggs to the mixture in the saucepan.  Stir quickly to make sure you don't have scrambled eggs in there.  Then mix in the dry mixture also into the sauce pan.  Add in whatever you would like.  I added chocolate chips.

Spread it on a pan lightly sprayed with coconut oil.

Use a 13x9 pan.  This batter really rises.

Bake for 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees.

And then quickly get some alone time with a small piece before the ruckus of the block party starts.

OH and make sure you look super patriotic while you are at it!

I was so happy with how these blondies turned out.  They were a tad grainy but the flavor and the comfort I was looking for were totally there.

I think I am going to make chocolate chip cookies next!  Now, a little bit about Bob's Red Mill.    I love that it is an employee owned company.  They offer over 400 non-GMO products, many of which are certified organic or gluten free.  They have a dedicated gluten free facility meaning that you have peace of mind that your flour never touched wheat.

So, in typical SD Mom fashion, I am giving away a 22 oz bag of the same flour I was sent!

  45. This isn't really a recipe but I have learned to substitute veggies for pasta. For instance I use zucchini from my garden in place of pasta in my lasagna. I have thyroid problems and even after medication I was still very swollen and achy. My knees would hurt so bad that I could barely walk. I was in my late 20's at the time and knew I couldn't live the rest of my life like that. So I started doing research on my own and discoverd my gluten intolerance. I feel so much better now.
