My 5 Goals for 2015!

January 3rd is early enough to come up with some goals for 2015, right?  I am expecting a lot out of 2015 and why not?  It is the Year of the Marathon!  My friend Natalie said this to me and it kinda scared me in a good way.  I am running a freaking Marathon this year.  26.2 miles.  There have been times in the not so recent past when I have said, "25 miles away?  That is too far to drive!"  Times they are a changing!

Without any further delay, here are my 5 Goals for 2015:

1.  Be Kind to my Body!

Furry Murray knows this so why don't I?

Running is hard on the body.  Very hard especially when you prefer to run on pavement, street, asphalt or cement like I do.  The shock that is absorbed by your entire body every time your foot touches the ground and takes off is harmful.

Dr. Cool ice compression wraps RULE!

I have had a moderate bout of shin splints in the last few weeks and I need to be good to my body while running.   If it hurts, it is not shameful to walk a bit until the pain eases up.  It is also not shameful to take an extra rest day or an extra cross training day.  That is my promise to myself.  That I will do whatever I can to stay healthy and injury free.

2.  Don't Take my BRFs for Granted!

These women meet me every single weekend.  If I am hurt, crabby, slow, sluggish, fast (Hah!) or tired, they stick by me.

Their support and encouragement has meant more to me than you or they will ever know.  So my goal for 2015 is to nurture this relationship and vow to put into it as much as I take out of it.  They keep me honest and motivated and I want to do the same for them.  And I promise to do my part in the 2015 in 2015 calling for Team Mamaste.

3.  Spend More Time being Active with my Family!

I discovered running not too long ago.  SD Dad discovered cycling even more recently than that.  So it is important to us to get the kids out more too.  Hikes, swimming, basketball, skateboarding. Whatever it is, the SDFamily is going to be more active in 2015.

We have already started the year off right!

4.  Eat Better!

Let's face it.  I eat.  A lot.  In fact, sometimes I think I solely run so I can eat instead of the other way around.  I would like to change that this year and adopt an 80-20 plan.  80% clean food and 20% not so clean.

Or as D would call it, 80% race car and 20% clunker.  So clean whole ingredients.  No diet, no restrictions, just guidelines.

I recently partnered up with Gorton's Seafood on such a challenge.  Stay tuned for more details on that and how you can win!

5.  Quality over Quantity!

I am using this goal in all areas of my life.  Whether it comes to miles, blog posts, friends, food, it will all be about quality.  I want solid (race car) miles, no junk (clunker) miles.  I want posts which are important to me and not filler posts.  I want meaningful friendships.  I want wholesome food.

So if you see less posts from me, know that I want to deliver quality posts or that I am spending quality time with my family.

Bonus Goal: I want to cross the finish line at Phoenix on my own two feet knowing that I am surrounded by love and support.  I am so excited to fulfill this item on my bucket list with Jamye, Jenn, Julie, Thia, Erica, Suzie, Carlee, Emz, Shane, Jeremy, Brian, Brittany, Christina, Kristin, Linzie, Leslie, Michael and so many more.  So pumped!  #itsgoingdownatphx

With this, I wish you a happy New Year and all the love, laughter and miles you can stuff into one year!

And as always, I wish you Happy Feet,
SD Mom

  4. I definitely want to do #3 if I ever end up getting to be near-ish to home again. #5 is always a constant in my life. Aside from the whole holiday binging, I usually eat pretty healthy--it's just in ginormous quantities because I adore food, har har. Gotta work on that!

Best of luck to you on your goals for this year! :D Happy 2015!
