Lunch Planning with #LoveFreekeh - Review & #GIVEAWAY

Disclaimer: As a SweatPink Ambassador, I was sent Freekeh for review and giveaway purposes.  I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions are my own.

I don't know about you but I have a hard time deciding what to take for lunch during the work week.  I don't want to take a frozen meal and when you have a growing son like D, there are hardly any leftovers from the night before.  So I get creative.  Because I am not a cold salad fan.  I just don't like to bring salads to work.  Enter Freekeh!

What the Freek is Freekeh?  (come on, you know you said that in your head!)

Freekeh is an ancient roasted grain and it is nutty and chewy.  Freekeh has 3 x the fiber and 2 x the protein as rice.  It is cracked wheat though so if you have any kind of gluten intolerance this may not be for you.  It comes in 3 different flavors: Original, Tamari and Rosemary.  I chose the Original and the Tamari to try.

I cooked up the Tamari flavor and added a little spinach and salt.  The ingredient list is organic cracked roasted green wheat & organic tamari shoyu.  That's it.  It has a great flavor, almost Asian.  I paired it with my FAVORITE.

Jalapeño chicken sausage from Trader Joe's (no preservatives) and red chili flakes.  I portioned a little bit out for lunch and saved the container so I can dish it out all week for lunch.  I will let you decide how much I liked it!

So now, the awesome folks at Freekeh want one of you to try this deliciousness and take it for YOUR lunch!  Or dinner or snack...whenever!  You get your choice of 1 flavor mentioned above and the cookbook.

It has really fun recipes in it including a spicy paella.  YUM!  So go ahead and enter on the Rafflecopter!

  1. I really like Freekah. I have to do my review and giveaway after I finish the second bag. To me the texture is a cross between rice anf cous cous - so tasty!

  3. Freekah sounds really interesting! I'm always looking for new recipes to try, and it seems healthy and delicious- the recipe you made looks great! I'd probably want to try the original Freekah and make a Caprese style dish with it, adding fresh mozzarella, basil and a bit of olive oil!

  13. Rosemary Sage or original and then add my own spices to it. I'd probably add some onions, maybe meat alternatives and other veggies...now I'm hungry and its 3:30am! Haha.
