@RunRocknRoll #RnRLA recap and @WeRunSocial Meet Up!

Disclaimer: As a Rock n Blogger, I was given a Tour Pass in exchange for my honest blog posts about the races.  All opinions are my own!

When I saw that the Rock n Roll Half Marathon Los Angeles would coincide nicely with my taper weeks for Marathon Training for Revel Canyon City, I signed up!  Let me start by saying that the lovely Sarah of Mom Running on Empty and I decided to be roommates for the weekend (October 24 & 25).  GREAT freaking decision!

She was on board with all of the pre-party plans including the We Run Social meet up on Saturday at The Yard House.

We saw all our favorites including Pavement Runner, Andrea Barber aka "Kimmy Gibbler" and Point One miles, all part of the #SD2LV crew.

And we couldn't pass up a chance to snuggle our bear, Sharp Endurance (who just PR'd at the NYC Marathon on 11/1) and of course, the always fun AJ!

We headed to the expo!

Had some Dunkin' Donuts.

Got a tune up on our Maui Jim shades!

Hugged the real Cali Combo Golden bear!

Chatted up Half Crazy Mama at the LA Marathon booth!

We stayed at the spectacular Millennium Biltmore Hotel.  So pretty and so close to everything.  A little tip though - park in the self park across the street on Pershing and eat at Tender Greens around the corner.  Get the cauliflower.  Thank me later.

Laid out our outfits!  Pictured is a Moving Comfort bra, Pro Compression socks, Spandits skirt and Hoka One One Stinsons.

We had the amazing opportunity to participate in the VIP experience for this race.

We met up with Andrea and Michael inside the restaurant - The Farm of Beverly Hills which played host to the VIP experience.

I modeled a bit.

Caught a beautiful sunrise.

Met up with and started the race with Tam and Emelia!

Ran in to the always awesome and well costumed Carlee!

And gave Andrea at the We Run Social cheer station a squeeze.

Ran by the Disney Concert Hall!  Beautiful building!

Saw the Japanese Village!  I used to go there a few times a year with my parents.  YUMMY!

The LA River.  Did you know that existed?

Some fun signs!

Tam and I admired each other's Orange Mud packs!

This was my first year doing this race and I totally loved it.  It was great fun but not a PR course by any means.  There were 4 hills.  Pretty good sized ones.  So Tam and I decided to run it and just have fun!

Then finally we met up with the rest of the We Run Social crew after the race to show off our medals!

This was a super fun race like all of the Rock n Roll races and I highly recommend them.  They are always high energy with plenty of crowd and course support.  And the people...I love these people and they are what bring me back every time!  It was also the first time I ever ran in costume.  In case you couldn't tell, I was Strawberry Shortcake!

I am linking up this post with Tuesdays on the Run blog link up with  My No-Guilt LifeMCM Mama Runs and Marcia's Healthy Slice.

Have you ever run a Rock n Roll race?  I am super bummed I am missing out on Las Vegas with this crew!

As always, I wish you Happy Feet,
SD Mom

  1. I'm starting to thinkt there is a huge difference between the east and west coast RnR races, lol. It looks like the race was a blast!

  4. This looks like SO much fun! A friend of mine is pushing hard for the LA marathon in Feb and so far I'm resisting. Yikes! I've only done a few RnR Chicagos and RnR Denver but I'll be running Vegas in less than 2 weeks! Yay!

  6. Looks like it was a great time. I enjoyed the RnR DC I ran this year, despite the weather not being the greatest. Room for improvement but was still fun.

  9. I've heard great things about the LA RNR. I ran the Vegas one last year and while it was fun I don't think I'll do it again. I'm so used to running in the morning and trying to figure out what to/not to eat was so difficult for a nighttime run. It's always nice to try a different RNR. My favorite (besides my local) is the San Diego Half.
