Rest Day = Family Day, Long Run prep

Today was a beautiful San Diego type of day.  I usually wake up at 5:00 a.m. but today?  I woke up at 6:45 a.m.  I felt magnificent with the whole day stretched out in front of me with nothing planned.  Took S to ballet and then while she napped, took D to a good friend's house for a playdate.  All at a calm unhurried not rushed pace.

After nap, we went to one of our favorite places on the planet, Stone Farms.  This is the little known outpost of Stone Brewing where they grow all their organic produce for their restaurants, have animals and chickens that lay organic eggs and even a CSA.  CSA = Community Supported Agriculture.  Best of all, a little hut with 6 beers on tap.  And if you are lucky, you can get pizza starting at 1.  We got there at 4 and it was all gone!

Beers on Tap

The kids love coming here because there are animals to see, bacci ball to play and playgrounds.  And adults?  Well, what is not to love about a place with great beer and entertainment for the kids??

Time to call it a day!  We are hungry!

We were all starved at this point and I knew I had a LONG HILLY run planned for the next day so we headed to a local (to Stone Farms) Carneceria (Mexican Meat market).  A friend recommended this place and it was delicious.  The Pollo was better than the Carne in our opinion.  Check it out: Kennedy's Karne.  Doesn't this look delicious and colorful???  SO MUCH FOOD!

Then back to reality as I have a 5:00 a.m. wake up call for that hilly run in the morning.  I made my Vega Sport Pre-Workout energizer, contains caffeine.  I never leave home without it on race days and long runs.  Take it 20 minutes before the run and it gives you just the right jolt of caffeine and energy.  I also made my lemon-lime Nuun for during my run and my Luna Bar for breakfast on the drive.  I set out my outfit with RunningSkirt and Compression socks of course.  Ready to hit the hay!

Pre- Long Run must haves

If you think about it, will you say a little silent prayer that I can and will conquer that hill?  My friend Julie says I have made a mountain out of that hill...let's see!  What is your pre-long run ritual?  Do you like training hills?

As always, I wish you Happy Feet,
SD Mom
