Friday Fascinations 6/6

Welcome to this week's edition of Friday Fascinations!  Busy week this week.  As always!  D had a belt test, S moved up a level in swimming, National Running Day, busy work week, Rock n Roll Half Marathon, Pro Compression Shakeout Run, Yelp Elite event and a Happy Hour for a friend who is retiring.  So now, I get to tell you what has held my attention in this busy week

1.  My first fascination is the Moms Run this Town group.  Do you belong to your local chapter?  If not, and you are a mom (to a 2 legged or 4 legged child), you must.  I have formed some amazing friendships and I always have someone willing to run with me.

This is a bunch of Moms from my local chapter (and me!) on National Running Day at 5:30 a.m. in all our colorful gear!

2.  The Mango Coconut Chia Squeeze from Mama Chia!  Can I please tell you how good this is?  It is tangy and tropical and you feel like a kid squeezing the stuff into your mouth!

I took it to work this week as a snack and as you know, the health benefits of chia seeds are amazing! And they are a local San Diego County company so must support!

3.  You all know J.K. Rowling wrote Harry Potter right?!  And she made a gazillion dollars of the series?  Did you also know she wrote The Casual Vacancy?

I have been listening to it on audiobook and I am fascinated.  Not because it is particularly good but because SHE wrote it.  It is like she set out to write the complete opposite of Harry Potter and this is what she ended up with.  And I feel compelled to finish it but I have to admit it has been slow going at times!

4.  I am so excited about The Shockingly Unshocking running bra from New Balance.  I finally have a pretty color that works to support me.  It has 4-way motion control and keeps you from having uni-boob.

I bought mine from Movin Shoes but you can also find it here.

5.  Finally, I stopped by the Nuun booth at the Rock n Roll San Diego expo and restocked my favorite Nuun flavor - Kona Cola.  I love this one.  It tastes like a flat coke and you can't even tell there is no sugar.  It feels like a decadent treat.

I also got watermelon so I will be reporting back on my thoughts on that one.

So your turn!  What are you into this week?  Have you read Casual Vacancy?  Do you belong to an MRTT chapter?  What is your favorite Nuun flavor?  Do you incorporate Chia seeds in your daily diet?  What is your favorite sports bra?

As always, I wish you Happy Feet,
SD Mom

  1. I've never heard of MRTT! I am a mom to a baby beagle (17 weeks)! I can't wait to take him on runs with me when he gets a bit older.
I didn't hear good things about Casual Vacancy. Even though I loved the Harry Potter series, I don't think I'm willing to try reading it. Slow books are the worst!

    1. Karen, click on the MRTT link above. You should totally join your local chapter! They rule! And you get pretty good discounts. I read the Casual Vacancy because of a desire to see if she could break the HP mold and it sure did!

  2. I read that book. A lot of people I know didn't like it, but I enjoyed it, probably for the nostalgic aspect for me.

  4. I'm OBSESSED with Harry Potter but haven't read the Casual Vacancy yet. I'm waiting for them to open the second part of Harry Potter world in Orlando this summer! Nunn: cherry limeade! Yum yum! But I have yet to try one I don't like. Rock n Roll is on my bucket list! I think it would be an awesome race to complete.
