#WeeklyWrap: SunBasket Meal Review & #Giveaway!

Disclaimer: I was sent 3 meals for 2 from SunBasket for review and giveaway purposes.  I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions are DEFINITELY my own!

I have been hearing EVERYWHERE about the different meal services out there.  You know the ones.  They send you ingredients, you chop, prep and cook according to the recipe cards, also provided.  They send each ingredient in its own container with TONS of waste!

SunBasket is different.  One, they are 100% organic.

Two, they hate waste.  They send you return labeling so that you can send back all the packaging.  That's right - the ice packs, the little food containers, all of it!

I was sent three meals to review.  Chicken Salmoriglio with charred broccolini.

Seared steaks with porcini pan sauce and sautéed chard.

And Spring vegetable tofu stir fry with black-sesame vinaigrette.

You choose 3 recipes for 2, 4, or 6 people at $11.49 per meal.  Yes, each dinner for my husband and I pictured above would have cost $23.00.

But, the ingredients are organic, fresh, measured out and grass-fed, antibiotic-free pastured meats & sustainable seafood from ranchers & fishermen they trust.

The one we had the most trouble with was the steak.  Don't get me wrong.  It was delicious.  In fact, it was perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked.  My compliments to the chef!

The picture of the dish on the recipe card showed green beans and red peppers.  And some kind of garlic butter.  The actual ingredients and the recipe card contained a garnet sweet potato.  But only in the ingredient section and NOT in the direction section.  There were also no instructions for the swiss chard.

My super awesome husband improvised and served up a TASTY meal!  Now, my favorite was the chicken and I will most likely make it again.  So much flavor.  The easiest to cook with the most flavor was the tofu.  On average the chicken and the steak took about 50 minutes to prep and cook start to finish.

But let me just say again, each recipe was AMAZE!  Delicious restaurant quality meals made in my home with high quality ingredients.  The tofu was the only one with left overs.  We were slightly hungry after the chicken but totally satisfied after the steak.

So, you know I have been diagnosed with a wheat allergy.  They will totally customize the plans with gluten free.  Paleo?  No problem.  Vegetarian?  Even better!

Still skeptical?  I have a $30 off coupon for you to try a week!  Use this link to get $30 off!  But I do have a chance for you to win 3 meals for 2!  Please note, they are only shipping to California, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Idaho and Nevada at this time.  Enter on the Rafflecopter!

A little more about the rest of my weekend.  I ran a 9 mile trail run with my girls Jenn & Vanessa.  So much fun when the three of us get together!

And yes I ran in a dress.  More on that coming soon!  And me and the rest of the SD Family went rock climbing.  So much fun!

We look good in a harness, no?  Haha!  I also want to remind you of the event happening here in San Diego on March 20.  Would love for you to join us.  We have TONS of prizes to giveaway!

And finally, I am linking up with Deborah and Sarah for Meatless Monday (I did talk about tofu!), with the Weekly Wrap hosted by HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin and also with Megan!

So tell me, have you ever tried a meal service like this?  What are your thoughts on them?

Good luck and as always, I wish you Happy Feet,
SD Mom

  4. You know how dogs cock their heads to the side? That's exactly what I just did. "Is she wearing a dress?"

  5. I have a running dress! Unfortunately, I wore it in a hot half marathon and it got HEAVY and saggy when soaked with sweat. It makes an excellent swimsuit cover-up though. I could still wear it for a 5k probably. Thanks for linking with us SD.

  8. How cool! I've been skeptical of all of these different meal services, but this one sounds right up my alley! It's too bad they don't deliver to Maryland! I love your caption on the photo of you in a dress. I thought, "is homegirl running in a dress?" And then the caption answered my question. Two thumbs up! You go, girl!
