I HAD to go back to Trader Joe's today because I forgot my probiotics the last time I was there. I have taken one of these a day for almost a year now and I really feel they have a lot to do with why I NEVER get sick! (Hope I didn't jinx myself!)!
While I was there, I spotted these
which got me thinking about my VERY Favorite Summertime (anytime!) cocktail! The Ginger Beer Margarita from Minimalist Baker. They are so easy to make and taste absolutely BRILLIANT!
Here is the recipe from Dana at The Minimalist Baker:
1.5 ounces (3 Tablespoons) 100% agave tequila (such as Altos)
1 ounce (2 Tbsp) fresh lime juice3 ounces (6 Tbsp) ginger beer
.5 ounce (1 Tbsp) simple syrup
Coarse salt for lining rim
Line a small serving glass with fresh lime juice and dip in coarse salt (optional).
Add tequila, simple syrup, ginger beer and lime juice to a large glass or cocktail shaker with 1/2 cup ice and stir vigorously. Don't shake with a lid on or it will erupt from the ginger beer carbonation.
Pour liquid (reserving ice) into serving glass with a few ice cubes. Garnish with a lime wedge and serve immediately. Repeat for more drinks, or double/triple the amounts for more people.
Trader Joe's Limes (I try to get organic if possible)
Simple Syrup (you can find this in the mixer section of your grocery store) or make your own!
Reed's Brand Ginger Beer from where else, Trader Joes! Bev Mo has a good selection.
And even though Dana says not to use Jose Cuervo, I like the silver 100% agave taste!
And of course, since I was there, I had to scope out the shelves for new product and I saw this
Any one tried it? I want to but I am on beer restriction. Try it and tell me if you like it. It is made by Stone Brewing after all!

ReplyDeleteI LOVE ginger beer, moscow/oaxacan mules, and ginger beer margaritas. SO good. But I'm going to up the ante and tell you that you need to try a drink called Crabbies. It is alcoholic ginger beer and it is the PERFECT ready to go out of the bottle summer drink. Find it, you will thank me!

DeleteThat sounds good! I love tequila though I've never tried ginger beer...interesting. This summer I would like to try more craft beers and visit some breweries :)
