Fall is in the air! Someone tell me how it is September already?! Time sure flies. Maybe it is the little kids or the busy days, but I swear, just yesterday, I was dating things 2012.
But the problem with fall is that sunrise happens later and later and the 5:30 a.m. run that seems like a great idea in the summer becomes a not so safe idea. It is DARK at 5:30 a.m. these days and will only get darker. So what is a girl to do?

You can pick flash or non flash LED lights and you can be seen up to a 1/4 mile away. So now, the only dangerous thing about me running at 5 or 5:30 a.m. is my BRF grumbling about how early it is!
This is the arm band all lighted up.
I think the arm sleeves look pretty good too! Both would be awesome for middle of the night runs in a Ragnar relay race! They even have cycling jerseys!
I bet SD Dad would love that! Here is my armband:
They stand behind their product and even have a great warranty policy. Please note that the armbands are not sold in pairs.
They are having an AMAZING Labor Day sale right now. Use code LABORDAY for 50% OFF any product thru Monday 9/1/14! After that, you can use code SDMOM for 10% off any purchase. But don't wait for the sale to be over, use the 50% off code!
One more thing. The generous people at Glimmer Gear are allowing me to GIVEAWAY one LED Arm Band. How fun will it be to be able to run when it is dark and quiet without having to worry if people will see you?! You know the drill. Enter on the Rafflecopter link below.

I am so looking forward to cooler mornings but as you will see in upcoming posts, I am as big of a baby about the cold as I am about the heat. Ha Ha! Are you looking forward to darker mornings? How will you change the way you run and your gear?
Good luck and as always, I wish you Happy Feet,
SD Mom
I use a reflective belt when I run in the dark. I also wear as much reflective clothing as I possibly can.
ReplyDeleteI switch from my headbands to a hat so that I can clip my LED light on plus I wear a reflective belt and always my Road ID.
ReplyDeleteI definitely wear more reflective clothing, and bring a light if necessary! These clip on lights are cool though
ReplyDeleteI could really use this! I want to continue running after work and sadly, the parks will be closed by 5:00 before I know it! So, it's street running for me...
ReplyDeleteI don't adjust as well as I should. I run with a partner for safety and remember to wear lighter colored clothing.
ReplyDeleteI haven't run after dark yet, I just started running! So I'm not sure what to do! Hahaha
ReplyDeleteThese would be awesome! There aren't really all that many sidewalks where I am (I randomly see people walking across/along the highway every day; it's kinda strange), so I'm always somewhat worried that they're/I'm going to get mowed over on the side of the road.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of the cold very much either, so I'm actually trying to hang on to this heat (hah) for a while longer. Desperately hoping that there will not be a version 2 of the polar vortex!
I try to wear more reflective gear and a light on my forehead if I will be running early or late. I want to invest in more products though to keep me safer but I also would like to be more committed to running before I invest in products.
ReplyDeleteI have some reflective gear that I use, but I am constantly wondering if it's really visible or not. Having something like this would be a lot better!
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome! I just always run in the dark!
ReplyDeleteI use glow bracelets at night
ReplyDeleteI always take a light of some sort and wear reflective gear. Safety first.
ReplyDeleteOnce it starts getting super dark in the mornings, I won't run by myself, only with others. I also use a headlamp but I really need to get more reflective gear like a vest.
ReplyDeleteThose look cool! I need to think more about safety!
ReplyDeleteI use a light up vest and headlamp if needed
ReplyDeleteI always run at 5am. I use Amphipod Vizlets & try to wear clothing with reflective strips or bright colors.
ReplyDeletecheap flashing lights that won't stay on my arms!
ReplyDeleteI haven't run in the dark yet. I'm still a newer runner. If it's dark I usually just head to the gym instead.
ReplyDeleteI wear a bright shirt, yellow mostly
ReplyDeleteI tend to move indoors to the treadmill, or change my run time to during the day
ReplyDeleteI typically adjust by running on the treadmill. These lights are great!
ReplyDeleteI usually do my walk in the later morning time.
ReplyDeleteI run later in the morning. no
ReplyDeleteI hate running inside, so the brigher the better....
ReplyDeleteI just started running, and ran at night for the first time last night. I don't have a strategy yet, but maybe these will be part of it!
ReplyDeleteI mostly run on a treadmill during the very early morning hours since it just isn't as safe out anymore...but when I do head out for early morning runs while it is still dark I wear an amphipod reflective xinglet and a hat with reflective striping. At least it helps me be seen, but these armbands would be fabulous!
ReplyDeleteMy headlamp and taillight are getting a workout.
ReplyDeleteI have a clip on light that I use that flashes. I have been considering a head lamp as well (though the one direction I run is pretty good for street lights). These look pretty awesome though. They definitely interest me.
ReplyDeleteI just moved to Alaska, and while nighttime running in the summer was awesome (I ran a few runs at midnight!) it's now getting to be dark like normal and it's eventually going to be dark all the time! I'm thinking about getting a headlamp but I love that these arm bands don't need to go on my face to keep me safe!
ReplyDeleteHm, WordPress just told me I "don't own" my identity...and then ate my paragraph comment. Boo. I'd like the lit up sleeve for the "winter" runs along the Bay here in Northern California. Too bad I didn't see the sale before the 50% off ended! Ah well.
ReplyDeleteOh I hate when it gets darker outside! I love the light and love running in the light. I just plan my runs earlier so I can be out before it gets to dark
ReplyDeleteI usually try to avoid the dark but having gear like this would be great, be safer.
ReplyDeleteI wear a headlamp.
ReplyDeleteAmy
Miss Adventures in Running
I wear a reflective vest and one of those clip on lights that blinks.
ReplyDeleteI have a PantherVision Powercap that I wear for early morning runs in the dark. It has built in LED's in the hat brim. :)
ReplyDeleteI exercise in the evening and when it gets darker earlier I don't really have anything which is why I'd love to win this. My mp3 player glows a little so I usually just clip it to the back of me so cars can see me but that's it.
ReplyDeleteI never run in the dark until now so looking into all my visibility options!
ReplyDeletei have a neon vest but could really use a light -- especially now that i've been biking more!
